Stream-of-Consciousness Fitness Rant – Will

You should be able to go out and do whatever you want with your body, be that run up a hill, move your own furniture, beat your friends at sports or just strut around in nice weather with your shirt off watching everyone pretend they’re not looking at you.

Millions of years of evolution mean that you’ve inherited the genetic code of only the strongest, fittest offspring of the most badass motherfuckers who’ve ever lived. The rest of them didn’t make it. Being strong, fit, confident and capable is part of who you are. Someday you’re going to be able to do things that will amaze you, and we want to be part of finding out what they are.

Feeling energetic, happy and ready to take on the world is what some call “the benefits of training intensely”. We call that feeling normal.

Nothing worthwhile comes without effort – and by hell will there be effort involved here. You’ll sweat, you’ll get blisters, maybe even a couple of bruises. There may be blood, and tears aren’t entirely unknown either. You’re not in it alone though.

Part of the of the magic of what we do is surrounding you with the most hard-working, friendly and supportive people you’ll ever meet. Everyone who trains here has similar goals, and understands what it takes to achieve them. Sure, there’s a competitive side, but you could never find a better bunch of folks to compete with. Where else are you going to encounter people who are willing to sacrifice a lung for the sake of beating you on a sprint, and still shout you home to the finish line afterwards?

We don’t really care if you’re lifting 20kg or 200kg (we’ve seen better and worse a hundred times). We do care that you’re trying your best though.

We’re not interested in training people who want to switch off and go through the motions. If you’re happy enough to just potter along, never really improve and not make any real progress, you’re in the wrong place. If you’re hungry to learn, pay attention, ask questions and always give your best effort to everything you do, we’re going to get along great.

Training here is a partnership. You’ve got to listen to us, follow our advice and give this stuff time to work. Our job is pretty easy by comparison – all we have to do is show you the awesome things you’re capable of.
